From the Beginning, a Sense of Belonging
The 1970s was a difficult time for the nursing home industry, as most offered substandard care that consequentially worried seniors and their families.
In 1976, a young, ambitious Iowan purchased his first nursing home — intent on elevating current industry standards by providing personalized, exceptional care for seniors. Mike Hamm, Founder and CEO of Hawkeye, raised the bar for senior healthcare by instilling his deeply rooted family values and heartfelt compassion to each of his care centers. He and his team developed a set of core values that emphasized happiness, positivity and fun for residents and responsibility, innovation, leadership and trust in employees. In short, a place where everyone felt safe and secure.
The result is a true sense of belonging — where residents become family, family members become friends, and employees become trusted caregivers.
